If you want to get really good, then of course, you have to be willing to put in the time and effort that is required to get to a high level. It’s the same as anything else in life, like sports for instance; you cannot just walk onto the baseball team and expect to be able to play the game well if you have never held a baseball bat before. It takes practice, and that is exactly what it is going to take for you to be able to master the art of mentalism.
Growing up, I had great admiration for magicians such as Lance Burton, but I also knew a lot of local magicians who were really good in their own right. What I learned first hand from them is that they too had their fare share of trouble trying to master what they were doing. I have seen so many wannabe magicians who trip up on their acts and end up throwing in the towel altogether, and quitting. I hate to see that happen to people because I know that they could potentially be very good magicians if they were willing to put in the time and the effort that is needed.
In order to master mentalism, one has to be willing to go through the necessary work to get to the right level. Start at basic level tricks, I mean obviously you wont be able to make an elephant disappear right away, but with the right amount of practice, you will certainly get there.
